BSA says, “The Scout’s “Totin’ Rights” can be taken away if they fail in their responsibility.“ BSA doesn’t tell troops they must cut corners off for Totin’ Chip violations, but it doesn’t prohibit the practice either.
For Troop 280, it is our practice to cut corners as a standard for normal infractions. This is to be done by the Scoutmaster or Assistant Scoutmaster - not a scout.
The severity of the violation could dictate multiple corners are cut. Once the scout has lost all 4 corners that scout has lost the right to use any tools, until he has re-earned the Totin' Chip by retaking the course.
