This may seem like a lot of gear and quite frankly it is! All of it is essential though for a safe comfortable multi-day hike. If you need more specific recommendations, just ask your patrol leader, ASM, or Scoutmaster. See this page first: Personal Camping Gear Checklist. The list is the same but you should be judicious about what you need vs what you can pack and carry. You may have separate backpacking gear that is lighter and more compact at the expense of comfort and additional cost.
Patrol gear includes:
bear bag and 50′ of light cord
backpacking stove and fuel
cooking pot if need
all purpose soap and small sponge or scrubby
paper towels
aluminum foil
high energy snacks and shelf stable food for 1 breakfast, 2 lunches and 1dinner
Gatorade/electrolyte mix for one liter per day (no ice tea as it is caffeinated)
water filter if you have one, the troop will supply one for the group to share
Everything must be either packed in or secured to the outside of your pack. You cannot carry gear or extra bags with your hands. Avoid bungie cords if possible as the loads tend to bounce, straps are a better choice. If you share a tent you will divide up the tent amongst you and your tentmates packs. If you are tenting alone, you should carry your own tent.
