After you are registered, we set up up with our treasurer in QuickBooks for billing. If you need to make payments prior to your registration being completed, please contact the treasurer to set you up in our QuickBooks. We accept a couple methods of electronic payment as well as check or cash. Some parents wait for their monthly bill to pay; others pay in advance of each event.
Activity Related Charges: Campouts, Summer Camp, other activities are paid for fully by activity-related bills to the family's account. The cost for activities will be announced for each activity.
Campout Costs: Campouts are generally $35 but can increase over time with inflation - such increases will be documented here. This is $20 for meals and $10 for incidentals and $5 to cover costs for attending leaders. Fees for outings may be refunded if the participant cancels prior to any food and/or other materials for the outing being purchased or in the event of an unforeseen emergency.
BSA/Council Activities: Summer, Winter Camp, High Adventure (Philmont, Seabase, Northern Tier): These are all camps run by the BSA with their own payment schedules. The troop will bill family accounts ahead of these payment schedules. Some council activities may allow direct payment by the parent.
Awards & Non-Activity Related Expenses: these include awards and insignia for scouts, insurance and maintenance for the troop trailer, adult leader training, and basic operating supplies (stationery, etc.). There are 3 sources of income the troop uses to cover these:
Fundraising including: Flags Over Dripping, Popcorn Sales, and any donations given by organizations or individuals.
Annual troop dues.
Activity Related Refunds: For troop related activity, refunds will be issues if cancelation occurs before activity related purchases were made. For BSA/Council where the troop paid, refunds will be given in accorance with that events refund policy.
Current troop dues are $48 per scout and free for leaders. This does not include BSA dues or OA dues (see below). If you join the troop mid year, your dues will be prorated. For example, if you join in March, you will pay 10/12th of the annual dues
BSA Annual Dues for Adults & Scouts: As of April 2024, BSA dues are now directly charged to families. During this process you optionally elect to pay for a subscription to Scout Life Magazine. As an note, there is a correlation with the Scout Life Magazine subscription and continued interest in scouts BSA.
Order of the Arrow: A first class or higher scout or adult leader may be eligible for election to The dues vary based on level of membership: ordeal, brotherhood, or vigil. These dues are required to stay an active member of OA. An individual can choose not to be an active member. Cost is historically $20 for ordeal members or $15 for brotherhood or vigil members. The troop will bill you for this annually.
