The troop recognizes the key role camping programs have in developing our scouts and wants to aid legitimate need cases. The troop budgets funds to be available for scouts in need of support to continue participating in our program. In addition, the troop is willing to accept donations towards that goal.
Inform one of the key three (the scoutmaster, the troop committee chair, or the charter org representative) of a need to discuss the situation. This could be funds for equipment, dues, campouts, summer camp, or other troop related activities. They will set up time to discuss it with you privately.
The key three will meet with the treasurer to discuss the situation.
If the need is material related (supplies, uniform, etc.), they may find a way to obtain any items at no or greatly reduce cost.
If the need is cash flow related, the troop may arrange a payment plan to spread the payments to match the family’s ability to pay.
We can also prioritize access to fundraising opportunities such as Flags over Dripping and popcorn for the scout.
In cases, where the above approaches are not sufficient, the troop may provide a grant via a credit to the scouts account to cover those costs.
Privacy: In all the above cases, the information will not be communicated outside the requesting family member, the key three, or the treasurer.
